MBBS In China Medical Universities At Most Reasonable Fee

In 2011, we again admitted MBBS students, but the five-year course was changed to a six-year course. In 2013, we had 119 full-time students in English (including the 2011 and 2012 cohorts), accounting for 6.6% of international students studying at our university. These students were mainly from India (43, 36%), Thailand (21, 18%), Mauritius (18, 15%), Malaysia (9, 8%), Nepal (9, 8%) and other countries (18, 15%).

Strength and academia

Zhongshan School of Medicine (ZSSOM) is located at SYSU’s northern campus, which is in Guangzhou. Its history is more than 140 years old, with Dr. Sun Yat-sun having studied here. The school covers an area of more than 40,000 square meters and is equipped with high-tech equipment worth more than 1 billion yuan. There are also several laboratories at the provincial, university, and college levels, such as the Ministry of Education’s basic laboratory for tropical disease prevention and control, and a stem cell and tissue engineering laboratory.

It currently offers 15 undergraduate courses for full-time students. Postgraduate studies include 89 disciplines, 4 of which are classified as “national elite majors,” and clinical medicine is a national specialty. It is one of the first and most influential specialties within SGMU to be named a “Provincial Elite Specialty.” It ranks 4th among MBBS in China Medical University.

It has 353 faculty members, including 43 professors, 56 associate professors, 121 technicians, 49 doctoral students, 98 post-doctoral fellows, and others. Many of them are foreign scholars from the national Thousands of Talents program, Cheung Kong scholarship winners, National Foundation for Outstanding Youth winners, and nationally recognized professors.

Program description

The curriculum consists of the following three parts:

Chinese culture and science courses, including an overview of Chinese culture, Chinese language, Chinese medical terminology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, physical education, etc. These courses must be taken by exam.

Basic medical science, behavioral science, humanities, and social sciences, medical ethics, preventive medicine, and clinical medicine. These topics must also be studied.

Practical training. Educational institutions should reasonably provide internship opportunities. Internships last for one year (minimum 48 weeks).

To facilitate learning and living in China, as well as interaction with patients, Chinese is a mandatory course during the medical internship for international students studying in China during their undergraduate studies in English.

Core courses:

Anatomy, histology and embryology, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, preventive medicine, immunology, diagnosis, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, Chinese medicine, etc.

Basic medical and surgical sciences (MBBS)

Sichuan University’s West China Medical School offers an MBBS program for international students, taught in English. The language of instruction in the MBBS program is English, and Chinese is a compulsory subject. The program consists of two years of basic medical training, three years of clinical training, and one year of internship.

China’s Ministry of Education has given permission to the Faculty of Medicine at Sichuan University in western China to admit international students to the MBBS course in English. As of the 2010 list, only 52 out of 150 medical schools can accept international students for MBBS in English.

West China Medical School is on the global list of medical schools published by the World Health Organization. International Medical Education Directory (IMED), Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECMFG), and Foundation for International Medical Education and Research Development (FAIMER).

Since its inception in 2001, the college has admitted nine batches of medical students from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Singapore, USA, Canada, Korea, Fiji, Cameroon, etc. for MBBS courses. Six batches of international MBBS students have graduated from this medical school since 2011.

MBBS graduates have excelled in the licensing examinations of medical boards in their respective countries, such as the Nepal Medical Council and the Medical Council of India, while other graduates have passed the USMLE licensing examination to practice medicine in the United States and the Australian Medical Council licensing examination to practice medicine in Australia. Graduates of this medical school have worked in prestigious government or private hospitals in their home countries.

Educational Measure

West China Sichuan University School of Medicine has been teaching MBBS courses in English since 2001. Most of the teachers have been trained in the United States and Canada. Therefore, they are fully qualified to teach MBBS courses in English. The university sends more than 200 teachers to the United States and Canada for training every year. West China Medical School is one of the best and largest medical schools in China. More than 50% of the doctors have experience working or training in foreign medical institutions.
