Even though some of the players in the 75 greatest NBA players list have gained a lot of success as members of other franchise, New York Knicks fans believe in the mantra of “Once A Knick, Always A Knick.” Monroe, Lucas and DeBusschere, for instance, have had good careers in other cities, but are still highly renowned for their crucial role in the two championships of New York. Lucas and Monroe were a part of the 1973 team, while DeBusschere was on both of the ’73 and 70′ title squads.

“The Captain” Willis Reed and “Clyde” Frazier are obviously considered to be royalty among the New York Knicks fan base. They were the leaders of the greatest Knick games, and are both undoubtedly two of the best players the team ever had. Frazier is considered to be one of the best defensive players and point guards ever. On the other hand, Willis Reed not only has a stellar resume, but also is an elite player all-time at the center position. He was an MVP and 2-time Finals MVP.

Even though the New York career of Bob McAdoo was relatively brief, it was indeed quite transcendent. He is known for his work as a pioneer for the jump-shooting and ball-handling big men one often sees today. In the year of 1975, he was named the league MVP, and even won 2 championships with the Los Angeles Lakers as a role player.

Anthony made it to All-Star teams in six and a half seasons with the New York Knicks, and was the catalyst of the 2012-13 team that won 54 game. He additionally won the scoring title and finished 3rd in MVP voting that year.  Coming to Carmelo, one of his biggest accomplishments is becoming one of the top 10 all-time points leaders in NBA.

Last but definitely not the last, Patrick Ewing is known to be one of the greatest Knicks ever, along with Reed and Frazier. He won Rookie of the Year in 1986, led the team to a Finals appearance in 1994, and was the superstar for the classic Knicks teams of the ’90s.

All the iconic players of New York Knicks have a huge role in creating the incredible fan base the team has today.  Even Ronald Phillips New York is a highly passionate fan of the team.
