Many adults who cannot swim believe that it may be too late when it comes to learning to swim.

You can often hear people say, “I do not know how to swim! “And they say this, even though they are aware of all the great benefits that swimming has to offer adults. You can almost hear departure in their voice, as if that ship has already sailed. But how true is this? Can adults learn to swim?

First, stop being ashamed of not knowing how to swim . In fact, there are many people who will not sign up for swimming lessons just to avoid embarrassment.

This should not be the case! You are not alone, there are many adults who can not swim. We can not all be good at everything. You need to remind yourself of this if you feel uncomfortable to pass.

During swimming lessons

To get started, you need to learn other types of movements, such as floating and being able to control your breathing . Humans can float as their body density is less than that of water. However, this is not always easy to do.

  • Stand in the shallow part of the pool.

  • Tilt your body forward until you dip half of your head in the water.
  • With a kick, raise your legs until your body is stretched out behind you.
  • Keep your back straight and press, with your stomach facing down.
  • Relax and breathe slowly.

The last point is crucial to be able to flow. Stiffening your body to keep yourself afloat is useless. You should rather relax and let the water do all the work.

Basics of learning to swim

Usually, in the first few days after the introductory lesson, the trainer will try to develop the basic concepts behind a beginner’s technique. This specifically involves using a table to practice your swimming strokes and kicks.

Crawl, backstroke, or butterfly technique?

Once you have achieved the above goals and have mastered your skills, you can gradually start practicing the simplest technique. Do you hope to nail Michael Phelps in two to three weeks? Sorry, that’s not how it works!
